TOTAL TIME: 45 MINS

Ingredients:

4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (divided for various uses)
2 medium gala apples, peeled, cored, and diced
6 tbsp light brown sugar (packed and divided)
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
30 Kraft caramels (unwrapped and divided)
All-purpose flour (for surface dusting)
12 frozen white dinner roll dough balls (e.g., Rhodes brand)
2 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions:

Setup: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Using 2 tablespoons of melted butter, grease an 8 x 8-inch baking pan and set aside.

Apple Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine diced apples with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and the cinnamon. Mix well and set aside. Then, quarter 18 of the caramels and place them on standby.

Dough Preparation: On a lightly floured surface, spread each dough ball into a circle, about 3 inches in diameter. This can be achieved using a rolling pin or by gently stretching the edges to form a mini pizza shape.

Filling: Place a tablespoon of the apple mixture in the center of each dough circle, topping it with 6 caramel quarters.

Forming the Bombs: Carefully fold the dough’s edges over the center, forming a “package”. Then, roll this package into a ball, ensuring there are no visible tears or gaps. In case the dough breaks, dab your fingers in flour, seal any tears, and re-roll the dough. Position each bomb in the prepared pan, seam side down.

Baking: Coat the apple pie bombs using the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter, and then sprinkle them with the left 4 tablespoons of brown sugar. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until they’ve turned a lovely golden brown and are no longer doughy on the inside.

Caramel Sauce: While the bombs are baking, put the remaining 12 caramels and the heavy cream in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt them by microwaving in 30-second intervals, ensuring you stir after each session. Once melted into a smooth consistency, set aside to cool.

Serving: After removing the apple pie bombs from the oven, generously drizzle them with the caramel sauce. Serve warm and enjoy each bite!
