EASY HOMEMADE DULCE DE LECHE – Dulce de leche is a heavenly milk caramel made from sweetened condensed milk. Once you taste it you can’t help but fall in love. It’s thick and sweet with a mellow caramel flavor.

You can use it to make desserts, drizzle it over ice cream, dip fruit like apples and bananas into it, add it to your milkshakes, oatmeal or my favorite. . . just spoon it up for a sweet treat. Truly you will have no trouble finding uses for it!

I’ve seen some crazy ways to make this like boiling cans of sweetened condensed milk for hours. It comes with a scary warning to be careful because the can could explode!

There are no exploding cans involved here. Just a trip to the oven with the most divinely delicious caramel at the end!

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Pour the sweetened condensed milk into a shallow baking dish - I like to use a loaf pan.
Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and set it inside a larger roasting pan. Pour in hot water to reach about halfway up the side of the smaller pan.
Bake 1 hour. Remove from oven and cool. It's ready to be used in your recipes! Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator up to 1 week.
