Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened; use a standard full-fat block if possible
  • 1 cup brown sugar light or dark; break up any hard lumps
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce store-bought is fine
  • 1/4 cup crushed peanuts roasted salted peanuts work well
  • 4 to 5 green apples sliced, for serving; Granny Smith is a good choice

Instructions
 

  • In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and brown sugar together until smooth, fluffy, and fully combined, scraping down the sides once or twice.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture into a shallow serving dish or plastic container, smoothing the top with a spoon or spatula.
  • Pour the caramel sauce over the cream cheese layer and gently spread it into an even layer, then sprinkle the crushed peanuts over the caramel without pressing them in.
  • Arrange the sliced apples around the dip or serve them on the side, and chill until ready to serve or serve immediately.

Notes

Cover leftover dip tightly and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Do not freeze. Let refrigerated dip sit at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes before serving. For make-ahead preparation, refrigerate the cream cheese and brown sugar layer covered for up to 1 day, then add the caramel and peanuts just before serving.
